Style Icon: Cool Cars in Film
The Sunbeam Alpine Series II – Dr. No (1962) - According to Wikipedia, the
Alpine was produced principally for the US market and as one of the chief designers
of the car, Ken Howes, had worked for Ford prior to joining the Rootes Group,
it was bound to have some resemblance to the first generation of Ford
Thunderbird’s. In Dr. No, the first Bond car can be seen out manouvering a
1939 LaSalle Funeral Coach full of baddies.

That is a really cool car! I am going to look at some Used Cars in Weslaco TX this weekend and I would love to find something like this. I have always had a thing or older cars even as a child. Thank you for sharing this with us!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mike! The Sunbeam Alpine is probably my all time favourite. They're not so uncommon in the UK and from time to time one can see one zipping around town. I must admit that I prefer the longer rear fin of the pre-1964 models, though these were less powerful, if speed is your thing. It would be great to hear how you get on at Weslaco - particularly if you find your cool Alpine!
